Frequently Asked Questions
What specific items can you design?
Logos, branding, websites, packaging, business cards, invitations, brochures, and posters. To name a few. Really, any printed or digital material.
Do you offer all types of photography?
Unlike design, I have a specific style of photography that I offer. You can see samples of my work scattered throughout the portfolio section of the site. My favorite type of photography is portraiture. I only shoot with natural light and find well lit spaces for my sessions.
If you’re looking for a style that you don’t see on my site, I can recommend a few other great photographers in Austin who will take care of you.
What if I have a small project?
I’m happy to do one small project but I always recommend waiting until you have at least two or three small items you need help with before reaching out, as it’s more cost effective.
What about web site programming? Is that included?
For the websites I create, it’s a two-man show. I design the look and feel of the site. Then, a site programmer magically writes the code and makes it come to life.
Will I be able to edit a website you create for me?
I have experience designing both editable and non-editable sites. These days, most folks want an active and ever-changing site, equipped with a news or blog section that they can update. My programmer and I usually build editable sites using WordPress.
How much do your services cost?
This changes with every project. First, I speak with you about your needs and wants. After I have a clear idea of the size and scope of your job, I send you a bid.
How long will the creative process take?
Like the cost of a project, this changes for every job as well. In the bid and final contract, I will draw up a timeline both of us will follow during out time together.
Can you start on my project as soon as I contact you?
Usually, but not always. I carefully lay out my work so I can meet all my deadlines. Feel free to reach out to me at any point, to get an idea of my availability for the coming months.
What if I need you every month for a consistent amount of time?
This is called a retainer. Say, you need to hire me for 10 hours of design work a month or 2 photo shoots a month. If this is you, let’s have a conversation about the benefits of being a retainer client.
Do you work exclusively in Austin?
Heck no! For design work, we can easily work long distance. For photography, I can simply bid out with travel expenses included.
I’m ready to get started! What’s next?
Wonderful! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at 512 923 2372.
What steps do you take to get to know me and my brand?
I always like to meet you in person or through video chat before we begin. I also provide a custom questionnaire for you to fill out with a range of personal and business related questions. The creative process is very much a collaboration, so it’s important to get to know each other before we begin and stay in touch during our time together.
What can I do to prepare for us working together?
I can’t stress how important your content is. Whether it’s the name of your business, a brochure, or a full web site, start the writing process now. And if you need a copy writer recommendation, contact me.
The other recommendation is to begin brainstorming. Keep a sheet of paper around for a few days and try to fill it with words that define your brand. Continue to go back to it as you think of good descriptors.
What’s the meaning behind the name Go Forth?
Think of it as a call to action. A message to us both to keep moving and always do your best.
Have more questions? I’m sure you do! Since each project is unique, there are a lot of details that I haven’t covered. Email me anytime.
