Fairwell to my Apartment

I won’t forget the bright blue exterior; the [extremely] cozy 420 square feet; the sound of my landlord yelling “GGOOAALL!!” through the wall; the old scout SUV parked in the driveway; the grid of photos on the fridge; the day Cameron moved in; Onyx [our cat] escaping through the front door; Onyx escaping through the bedroom window; Onyx escaping through the living room window; the humming of the A/C unit; the day Alice [our dog] moved in; the 4×4′ shower; living on the street “French Place”.

I’ve been in the same apartment for nearly six years, which is hard to believe. I’ll miss it greatly but am extremely excited for what’s to come!

Cameron and I are officially home owners and move into our new house in just seven days! A big thank you to our dear friends, Jennifer and David, to whom we bought our dream home from.

New Work / Ruby Part Two

Yesterday The Ruby website launched! In case you’re not familiar with The Ruby, it’s a lady group I co-founded in Austin—bringing together creatives, making connections and enjoying a cocktail after a long day of work.

Now, it’s only a one-page site but never the less, it’s still a hurdle Ana, Candice and I have been wanting to jump for over a year. And I’m pleased with the end result!

In addition to the web page, I also added a set of illustrations (below) to the existing brand, which you can see in my portfolio.

A BIG shout out to Zak and Lauren from Hardage & Hardage for brilliantly programming the site.

Alyson Fox

For years, I’ve followed Alyson Fox’s artistic career—admiring her creations and impeccable eye from afar. A few weeks ago, I finally got the opportunity to spend some time with Alyson [and her pup Stache] and photograph her for an artist series on Camille Styles’ blog.

Camille and I travelled the hour to Spicewood to Alyson and her husband’s newly built home in the country. Here are some of my favorite images from the shoot. You can also find the full story [and more images!] right here at camillestyles.com.

Alyson’s latest collection is a set of Bolivian rugs. The image to the right is a sample of one of her reversible rugs that will be in production soon! I’m pumped.

I had to bring the Holga along! Above are two shots from my visit.

New Work / Oh! Fox Cards

Oh! Fox is one of my proudest brands to date. Candice, the talent behind Oh! Fox, allows me a lot of creative freedom, which is always exciting for a designer—and typically results in her/his best work.

If you aren’t familiar with the past work I’ve done for Oh! Fox, have a look here. We initially designed the merchandise tags to double as business cards but Candice was craving a letterpressed card—and I’ll never discourage letterpress.

As for the design of the new business card, Candice told me she wanted something eye-catching and bold. And she’s always said her name “Oh! Fox” loudly and excitedly. So why not make the type as large as possible?

For the back, Candice wanted a space to write a note, either a thank you or an business appointment. And then my favorite feature of the card, the illusive fox jumping through the lines and off the page.

After a couple years of avoiding Pinterest [so as not to get addicted], I caved and finally joined a few months back.

I find it to be an extremely useful way to communicate visually with clients and organize my professional and personal projects.
