Medsger Studio is Amanda Medsger’s eponymous interior design firm based in Houston, TX. The firm uses Amanda’s own design principles as a guide, blending modernism with natural materials as a way to honor the beauty in imperfection and simplicity.

We wanted these principles to feel apparent right away with the logo, which is achieved through bold geometric type. The studio’s print collateral, business cards and matchbooks, features the modern typeface coupled with delicate flourishes of hand drawn line work. Each card is completely unique.
We paired the graphics with textured recycled paper to highlight the balance between modernism and naturalism the studio is known for. The matchbooks have a neutral palette on the outside with a bit of drama on the inside as a surprise, mirroring the interior projects Medsger Studio has accomplished.
When asked to talk about her design approach, Medsger explained her goal for every project is to achieve “nostos”, an ancient Greek word that symbolizes the feeling of returning home after an epic journey.

Medsger’s social graphics feature big blocks of color and large typography. In contrast, her portfolio site is deliberately simple, directing focus solely to her work.
